Pairs art with foodDutch photographer Bartelsman traveled across America for a year, taking photos and gathering recipes from forty top American chefs. Magic In The Kitchen pairs art with food, adding sometimes whimsical photos of the chefs, their dishes, and their signature recipes. Discriminating fans of recipes which are unique to their creators will find this both visually appealing and delicious.

Magnetic North: Canadian Steam in Twilight
Published in Hardcover by Boston Mills Press (15 November, 1999)
Average review score:

CANADA , A LOOK BACK.This book is a feast for the eyes, the text alone is well worth the purchase price. The addition of the authors and others photographs is a "time machine experience" for this reviewer, who grew up in Detroit, Michigan in the 1950's . Canada and the Detroit area was the Mecca for the last real steam bastion in this era and Mr, Zimmermann has risen to the challenge of showing us what it looked like with words and photographs. A nice mix of color and Black & White photos illustrate the tale. But the narrative makes this volume a stand out in my opinion. If you were not able to witness the show in person, this book is a worthy replacement and belongs in any steam fans library.

Making Laws and Making News: Media Strategies in the U.S. House of Representatives
Published in Paperback by The Brookings Institution (September, 1990)
Average review score:

A classicThis is a classic account of the intersection between media and legislating. Tim Cook takes both a broad look at legislators' media strategies and more closely at some specific cases. This is political science, not political drama, so it will be especially helpful for academic purposes. However it is also highly interesting and not as dry as some political science. The book's one flaw is that it is aging. Cook's observations were made prior to the rise of Newt Gingrich and his media-intensive style of governance. There is still a big distinction between a "work horse" and a "show horse" in "Making Laws and Making News." Now that Newt's gone, perhaps equilibrium has been restored and the norms described in this book are coming back into vogue. If not, it is still an invaluable comparative resource - I'm certainly not aware of any other source that looks at this particular subject. After all this time "Making Laws and Making News" is still a headliner.

reasons for getting great results. She is passionate and
inspiring to others.

Mamma, Si Mangia? (Mama, Are We Eating?): A Florentine Son Shares His Feisty Mother's Recipes
Published in Paperback by Bright Sky Press (June, 2002)
Average review score:

Amazing Book - Fantastic Cookbook!!Without a doubt this is one of the most wonderful cookbooks I have ever read. The stories of young Giampaolo Fallai and his mother that compliment each recipe are to-die-for funny! - On top of that the illustrations by Anna Jurininch are stunning and bring back a sense of an "old time story book" - The recipes are easy to follow and exciting to prepare - truly an original cookbook.

Great cookbook. This cookbook from the early '50s holds up remarkably well given changes in taste and diet over the years.
We particularly like the stuffing recipe but there's a wealth of palatable dishes here.
